    I'm a graduate mathematician, but I have no idea what pi Day is.
    Is it something I'm missing because I'm not American?

    John,

    Today (3/14) is Pi Day and celebrations usually start at 1:59 because of the first digits: 3.14159.

    Of course, to most of Europe it's 14.3.07 so I can see where this wouldn't make sense ; )
