It seems like a lifetime ago when the Beatty show had an Alley like this. How great would it be if next season Johnny Pugh went "all in" and brought back the rings, the band and the clowns one last time?
I have to say three rings is still better, the atmosphere the smell of popcorn and cotton candy and all that ballyhoo they do on the midway,it like the first you see in a arena is all the rigging and all the souvenir stands in the lobby.I say bring back the old ringling just bring back the three rings.Rob triton troupers circus river grove ilinois...

Hey Anonymous...if you have that much mud show knowledge and experience, please enlighten us. Especially about Mr. Pugh and the Cole show.
Then throw in your experience at owning a circus and keeping it on the road.
And if you are the same "Anonymous" who had the first post...your quote does not make much sense. Caring about your show and keeping it on the road are the SAME THING.
Mike Naughton taught me a great lesson years ago..and that is "Show Business" is made up of two seperate words "Show" and "Business", and you can not have one without the other. Thanks Mike!!
I am not totally sure, but I think that this was before he went back to the Vargas show. I kinda remember Mike Snider telling me something about that, but would not swear to it.
Keeping your show on the road and caring about the quality of the show are indeed to separate things...you can have a show on the road and not have it be a great show....now the cole show isn't a bad show, it's just not as good as it could be....a shadow of its former self...but that being said...it's still a big show on the road under a big tent....
I will use your own words..."speak not what you have no clue about".
I had a long dissertation typed out to respond to you...but it is not worth it. Obviously you think that you know it all about circus, so why waste my time.
But just remember...before you blast a kid like Logan for being inexperienced, you better have something to back up your comments. The kid actually has show experience, and is with it and for it.
I stand behind my comments, because I can speak from experience.
By the way...I also have the courtesy of posting my name to back up my comments and beliefs.
I know this is a very late response, I don't have as much time as I would like to look at blogs this month. I want to thank Mr. McCallum for the kind words and for sticking up for me. And to anonymous I do not claim to be an expert but I do know a great deal about the circus industry and I am guessing I know more about it then you do since I have the guts to put my name with my comments. And no I am not releated to Mr. McCallum.
Yeah right, don't think he cares that much about the show itself..just keeping it on the road!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that. I think he is just trying to do the best with the resources that are currently available.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Logan

ReplyDeleteI thought Billy McCabe finished his long and illustrious career on Circus Vargas . . . did I miss something (again) ?
Bruce the Clown
There are many, many professional and funny clowns out there who are not working. Why is that?
ReplyDeleteBecause "clowns" from latin america are cheaper!!!!

Mr. McCallum, did you perform in the circus or own a show? Is Logan Jacot related to you? Your views are appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMr. McCallum has a very extensive circus resume.
