I think Mr. Cashins is refering to the jcpenny shirt with the weird vest and the wig oh my god the wig of course if your funny none of this stuff matters but the devil is in the details. a great clown told me always look better then the crowd that comes to see you even if your a tramp.
pleas don't look down on these hard working guys who are probably not getting paid enough.... I have seen worse. On the other side of the coin if they were in my circus they would have to change it. its not the clowns but the people that allow them to dress this way, because they are cheap labor. In show business one has to look good but to be a clown you gotta be funny too. some clowns don't have the knack of looking good I do not but I will never stop trying cause thats my job so I work on being funny ummmmm didn't clown college teach all this ? now its a publicity stunt your right mr. cashins it is sad
There are 2 real gems in the Cole Bros Clown Alley....Perrolito and Kellan (who also takes turns as Wheel of Steel and as the human cannonball in addition to facepainting for comein intermission and blow off) true circus folk who don't get paid enough for what they do!

Pat, not quite sure how this fits, but in a general sense regarding this topic, I was reminded of a song from Gilbert and Sullivan's "Yeomen Of The Guard", sung by the character, Jack Point, a travelling professional jester who laments in song "Oh! A Private Buffoon Is A Light-hearted Loon" in response to a jailer who wants to be a jester like him. If anyone's interested, the script can be found here: http://www.sullivan-forschung.de/yeomen.htm The song's in Act II; "find" by song title. I can relate to Jack Point sometimes.
What did the pot call the kettle?
ReplyDeleteI just have to say wow, they have the spirit in them and saw dust in their blood but the over powdering and makeup styles have to go

ReplyDeleteApparently a cultural style of makeup and costuming (or even performance) from ones own is considered to be sub par and below standard by some.
ReplyDeleteSad.
