Having let my subconscious dwell on this, I realise that the photo itself turns up regularly when dealing with that era. But I haven't been able to find a copy with a caption. I have a feeling that Frankie Fossett is at bottom left, and at bottom right is a clown called Bobino, actual name something like Bob Beesley.

The top three clowns are Alby Austin, Percy Huxter, and Len"Spider" Austin brother of Alby.

It's likely that Frankie Fossett is one of the unidentified clowns beside Billy Merchant.
