Pardon the "ignorance" of a Brit watching without sound, but were we Smother-ed at the start of this?
By the way, I know that I saw my first live circus early in August 1957, but I sem to have convinced myself that it was on 7 August 1957. Figure that out! I was scared of the clowns, although such things were fine when they were inside a television set. Same at my next live circus, 2 years later. A further 2 years down the line, and I seem to have been "cured".

John.
Yes, that is Tom and Dick Smothers on the Smothers Brothers Show.
And yes, Steve Martin really was on the writing staff. I believe he also wrote for The Sonny and Cher Show before he made it big a few years later.

hey so I'm not alone.
As a kid I was very afried of clowns
and oalso off saint-nicholas and his help black peter.
I would run for miles if they even came close to me and cryd so loud that they ran from me.
very strange but I'm also cured:
because know my house is full of clown statues and I clown and play saint-Nicholas myself.
sometimes my mother makes fun of it know:
when I'm dressed up she somtime laughs: as a kid you would be scared of yourself whright know!!
don't look in the mirror or you run away.
by the way: great act off steve martin;
simple but very funny
