Mike Coco on Mills Bros.

I don't remember if I've posted this one before...

It's obviously Mike "Coco" Polakov, possibly with his own son, probably from the mid 50s when he was with the Mills Bros. Circus before he joined the Ringling show.

As we're back with this gentleman, it gives me the chance to comment on earlier postings which concern him, and from a British point of view.
Evidently his ICHOF profile suggests that the shows of Bertram Mills and/or Billy Smart toured Europe at some stage. Not so. Neither did. The only British circus to venture in to mainland Europe in the last 20 years or so is that of Gerry Cottle.
In a comment on Coco's decorators' slosh number, Greg mentioned The Brizios as being active round about the 1970s. Indeed they were. I saw them on Chipperfield's at that sort of time (or perhaps the late 60s) and also at the final Christmas Circus at Belle Vue, Manchester, some time in the 70s, but with different personnel, althoughI believe the then leader was with the act on Chipperfield's. The act was three-handed, one of the guys always being a little fella. It was regarded as an Italian act, that being the nationality of the principal. At Belle Vue, it was an Italian, a Frenchman and a British midget. Their timing was good, but the "problem" was that they wore obviously waterproof clothing, so didn't get as messy as they might have done. Thus some of the humour was lost.

Lets see some of Mike COCO pictures from Mills Bros. Circus....Especially the water gags. I can still remember Mills Bros. Circus opening in Ohio during Apruil and then going straight to Michigan....
