Mystery clown in an undated photo taken on the John A. Strong Circus.

Was this the same show as the Big John Strong Circus?

I asked Big John's son "Little John", about this photo, here is his response:

BJ-The Mystery Clown is my grandfather John A. Strong
Sr.He use to help my father at schools circuses when
my my dad first started his circus....I still have
that costume of my grandfathers.Yes the John A. Strong
Circus is the same as: Big John Strong Circus. When
people kept calling my Dad Big John he changed the
name to: the Big John Strong Circus. Then when I took
interest in the Circus at 5 years old he changed the
name to: Big John Strong & Son Circus.........Hope
this clears this matter up for you...Best,John Strong III

I can remember when I was in 4-H in Castro Valley, Ca. back in the late 50's and early 60's, our club would go out to the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton and I would always go over to the lawn area near the main gate and watch John Strong's Circus. Such wonderful memories!! Thanks John Strong and Family

Wow ! these comments have taken me down memory lane.I remember going door to door selling tickets for the John Strong Circus in Fallon ,Nevada for the Elks club I believe it was.I was just a child but the thrill of the John Strong Circus remains today aprox 45 yrs later.I'd love for my grandsons to be able to see the John Strong circus someday.
Thanks for the memories.
