there's a guy three to the right of Lou, turned to the side, who had a fairly grotesque whiteface/auguste styled makeup. Chesty wasn't exactly a whiteface, either. I'm not so sure that the official classification of makeup styles was the same in those days.

Polidor was an auguste too as was the two guys to the upper right of Lou.

But Lou's makeup "reads" better than any of them.

it looks as in the backrows are a few people dressed in a clown outfit ( all same style of costume) but no make up. seems they are not clowning in the show.Did they put a few non clowns in a costume to fill the picture??
