Highbrow Paper on the Chickys' Mirror Entree

I wonder what the Chickys themselves would make of this?

Not that I've checked the link yet, but Chicky himself retired almost 3 years ago, having had a triple heart bypass.
Bruno worked the routine with Jimmy Folco for the time Chicky was incapacitated, and for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
He's spent this season with Circus Herman Renz in Holland.

I visited this link was rubbing my eyes. I had to slowly read the "Highbrow Paper" thesis 4 times in order to comprehend what the writer was trying to say.

THe writer's comments translated into plainspeak: The Chicky's performance attempts to imitate societal norms.

Sorry, I was mistaken in my last comments. I read the Highbrow" again for clarity. I now have determined I really don't know what the writer was attempting to say.

What the author was trying to say is simple:
The plasticity of modern post-industrial society has precipitated a cognitive inversion of the collective psyco/social/sexual archetypes formerly associated with gender based roles pertaining to heirarchical authoritiarian regimes resulting from a stratification of class and geneology. In light of this, the clown entre is indicative of an ontological confusion expressed via a rigid adherence to the normative expectations of a moribund culture of hyper-conformity and dogmatic standardization of behavior and mores. And they make us laugh.

Wasn't that OBVIOUS!?!

For some reason I can't access the article, but the idea is clear. Having met The Chickys, I can imagine their reactions.
Chicky (Eugen Altenburg) may be the auguste, but he was the more seriuos outside the ring. I think he'd read it slowly before saying something like "Interesting". And if the article is in English, he would comment in English.
Bruno (Stutz), the white-face, is the joker. He'd say something like, "And I thought we were just trying to get laughs!"
Lest you don't know, they're both Swiss.

Side track information. You may have encountered the juggler Serge Percelly, perhaps on Big Apple. He's the son of Bruno and his wife Patricia (nee De Jonge) who is Belgian. Patty used to work in an act called The Percellys.
I'm told that Serge has now retired and settled down. Chicky is his godfather.
