Abe and Eddie Spaghetti

Abe Goldstein (l) sans his usual "clown cop" attire and Eddie "Spaghetti" Emerson (r) in a publicity still from the 1960 Walt Disney film "Toby Tyler".

Gosh, maybe Lou Jacobs' advice in Clown College to avoid "spaghetti" wasn't performing wisdom about sloppy work, as we always thought, but a remnant of an old Alley rivalry.

Abe Goldstein used to come visit us while I was on the RBBB Red unit in the mid to late 1980's. He was well into his 90's by that time. I still have his business card (complete with him in Keystone Kop) packed away.

I once rescued the box for Abe's Bass Drum, from the Paul Kaye show prop truck, it was being used to carry stakes, I had it at the farm for a long time. I think one of the Springfield area fans,(possibly Jake Conover) bought it at the auction we had when we vacated. We had put the farm up for sale & had to get rid of a lot of stuff. Abe was one of the great personalities of our time.
