JOE SHERMAN: In the Hospital in Cincinnati, OH

Greetings;

I wanted to let you know that Joe Vani, (Joe Sherman of the Sherman Brothers) is ill and in the hospital in Cincinnati. He suffered a broken hip and has been moving between the hospital and a nursing home. A bout with pneumonia brought him back to the hospital yet again.

Joe will be 95 this year on June 12th. He's at Bethesda North Hospital on Montgomery Rd. in Cincy.

I'm sure Joe would love to get some cards and letters.

His home address is:

Joe Vani
29 Tabaleen Lane
Milford, OH 45150

The address at the hospital is:

Mr. Joe Vani
Bethesda North Hospital
10500 N Montgomery Rd
Cincinnati, OH 45242

The Red unit opened in Cincy today. I'm hoping to get word to Bello that Joe's ill. They're good friends.

Please pass the word that one of the last great American clowns of the past is ailing.

Regards;
Arte Bausman

FANTASTIC!

If you're going out there, and he's up for it, get an interview. Ask him about EVERYTHING!

Tell him we're all pulling for him and we expect to see him at the Clown College Reunion in Baraboo!

Larry,
I am going to try to get a hold of the hospital this afternoon. This is a dear, dear man.
Joe and Chester aided and assisted me greatly when I first joined the circus as a prop man. Helped me understand, and offered valid advise on making the adjustment from town life, to this grand thing of our's. I'll bet I watched Dog Pie a thousand time's. After Chet died, Joe used to come to Illinois and spend a day, just to be around the smell of animal's.
Larry, if he isn't up to talking today, and you do get there, give him a hug from me.

Mr. Cashin,My wife and i are dear friends of Joe. we got a card off to him today,when we saw the news on Bill Strongs' blog. After Chester died, I worked a couple of spots with him (in not very good makeup). I usually carried the dog in the Dog Pie number. Please tell him that we are praying for him and to get well soon so we can talk to him.Bill and Bev Galloway, Rochester,NY

Joe is a fantastic Man and I wish him well and I sent a card. My mom told me that with his poor vision that she used to take the cigars from his pocket and replace them with Tampons-- What a Trooper he is-- love TeLa (Schmidt) Hereau
