I don't think I'd give a show that name these days! Thanks to the likes of John Lennon, the word "grotty" has a negative meaning, being a version of "grotesque".
Some may remember that Kinko was among Clyde Beatty's closest friends. When Clyde and Harriett Beatty left Robbins, in 1938, Adkins and Terrell settled with them by giving them the wild animal acts, all equipment and three elephants. Kinko helped form the Clyde Beatty Circus Unit, which then booked the 1939 season at the Steel Pier. From there, Kinko remained with the Beattys when they opened the Clyde Beatty Jungle Zoo in Ft. Lauderdale, in December of '39. I last saw him on RBB in the '60s.
