Hope all is well on the home front! Gotta keep the prorities in the right order:0) Is this car set up like George "Perky" Perkins car as described in the George Bishop book, Clowns? I'd love to have a set up like that!
I don't think it's the best idea to drive a 1929 Ford quite THAT far but it certainly can be shipped on a car hauler.
That is how we got it here from Ocala, FL.
Bill Ballantine's book CLOWN ALLEY states that the previous owner, Kent "Speedo the Speedway Clown" Tyler drove it all the way from CA to Venice, FL, but that was in 1970!

I love these 'trapeze' stories.
I believe Don Martinez was discovered at muscle beach as well. I remember a story about 2 Cubans trying to get to Florida and their boat sank. They floated all the way to Ft. Lauderdale(?) Victor Giaona went to the hospital and hired them for his act. He figured if they were strong enough to swim that far they would make great catchers. I'm sure the fact that they would be cheap labor never entered his mind. ;^)

I truly hope you are not comparing mr. lee's story of Fay's career to that "bulls---t" story about Victor Gaona, because mr. lee is pretty much on the money. Fay and his sister were doing a dance act on USO Shows when he was "discovered" by Ted DeWayne, who had a Teeterboard Act, took him on with rest of Ted's Muscle Beach bunch, Don E. Johnson, Bobby Yerkes, Billy, & Fay (Romig) Snyder, Russ Saunders, Cliff Moseley, & others. Ted turned Fay into an acrobat, then he became a flyer. He did indeed double for Tony Curtis, in "Trapeze"(a couple other circus names in that movie were Eddie Ward, & Willy Krause. Fay was also in G.S.O.E.(for Cornell Wilde, & he was in "The Big Circus". Fay's father was a barber, and Fay also attended barber school and was a barber. He was indeed one of our greatest Flyers, and set the style for many years.

This is the old Ernie Wiswell car, Fay bought it from Ernie's widow Frieda.
