BLINKO IN ITALY

Photos courtesy of Raffaele de Ritis

Illustrating a previous point about unlicensed use of American circus clowns' images on European circus posters here is Ernie "Blinko" Burch who spent many years on Ringling, the Shrine circuit and at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, NV advertising Citta di Roma...

If Ernie got a penny for every time someone used his image to advertise a show that he didn't appear on he'd have earned 100% what he ever did actually performing at the shows that he did over his long career.

When I was told this clown was created by the show's artists, I replied, "He looks exactly like a friend of mine who had recently passed away". They made no more comment.
They weren't very nice people, they stiffed us on the expenses, shorted us on the salary. The third week on the show, at Mr.Cuneo's advise Trudy had me inform them 15 min. before the show, she would not go on until they paid two weeks back salary. They had her on the way to the office to pay her before I got back to the trailer!

well people how just steal ( this is what it is stealing) photo's from someone else to use to make publicity are never nice people.

I have the same problem:
my pictures as saint-nicholas ( something like santaclaus but the version of the low countries) you can find everywhere.

on websites of organisations, on poster, etc... they even used it on tv.
they showed it on screen during a phone interview.

they just dont mind copywright or anything.

and imediatly you are linked to some organisation where you dont work for.

my picture even appearezd next to an ad where they were selling costumes because there organisation stopped there bussines.

A costumer was directly on the phone: do you stop with your organisation.
no off course not. ands then you find out they abused your pictures.

apart of the monney you could make with this its just not nice to be on posters and websites that are not yours.
