Today we know them as the comedy stars of the Ringling Gold Unit but "way back when" they were just two of the more talented guys in Clown Alley, working hard and honing their craft...
Mitch Freddes on the Red Unit in 1977...
and Tom Dougherty on the Blue Unit in 1980.

Mitch was a very energetic and easy to like 'First of May'. We all took turns torturing the guy and he always came back for more. He reminded me of David Lee Roth in greasepaint. He always had a wisecrack... sometimes not so wise crack... but he cracked! He was one of my favorite alley mates.
